SI's 50 Richest Athletes - GT Represented...

Sports Illustrated released an article with the 50 highest paid American athletes of 2009. GT had Starbury and Teixeira represented on the the list at #17 and #14, respectively. I went through the list and broke down the players by college/conference. It's pretty interesting seeing the way sports pay their players as well. No surprise to me is that 22 of the 50 athletes are NBA guys, 14 are from the MLB, 9 from the NFL, 3 from the PGA, and Dale Jr. and Jeff Gordon finish the list off. The highest paid is obviously Tiger by almost double.

8 of the top 50 are from the ACC, which ain't too shabby. Especially considering it's three different sports. The Pac 10 has 6 of the top 50, the Big East has 5 all from the NBA, the SEC has 4, and the Big 12 and Big 10 both have 2 represented. This means that 20 of the top 50 highest paid American athletes didn't attend a four year university before going pro. Pretty interesting.

The most represented university on the list of athletes was UNC with 3. GT's 2 were tied with Tennessee, Syracuse, and Arizona. There were 19 Division I universities with only one representative in the top 50. No one from uga made the list...

I thought the article was interesting. Any thoughts?

Georgia looking up at Tech

Doc Saturday claims that Georgie probably shouldn't feel any sort of jealousy towards Tech's preseason love due to recent history. He also mentions, however, that through the O'Leary/Johnson years, Tech and Georgie have mostly been on par. The Chan Experience really put a governor on the Tech motor and kinda slowed us up comparatively, which I generally I agree with (as do most Tech fans).

There's an interesting mood in the state though. A mood that is emanating from the East. I think a lot of dog fans are realizing Richt will never take home a big one at Georgie or at least he won't in the near future. He can recruit all the talent in the world but he doesn't have the ability (or maybe focus) to coach an entire season without a blemish (e.g. UF, Tenn, and Auburn in recent years). He reminds me of Wisconsin in the Big 10. Not flashy, 10 win seasons, and always overshadowed by more interesting teams that get to big games with big regular season wins.

Oh well. You never know. I hope Richt doesn't leave in the near future except maybe to take the FSU job. I think CPJ's got his number and is a helluva lot better coach. But with two or three more losses in a row to the Jackets I think Richt is gone.

Any thoughts.

Tech-uga ESPN Poll Closes with Analysis

Who Won?
A poll conducted by ESPN SportsNation accumulated over 15,000 votes on who would have a more succesful season: Tech or Georgia. So final tallies indicate Tech won the popular vote over Georgia 52% to 48% but would've lost the Presidential Election as Georgia took California, Texas, and New York. Why did Tech win the popular vote? Well, the poll only polled people that cared so the states of Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Ohio were key states in the popular vote as those four states tallied over 34% of the total votes. It also didn't hurt that voters outside of the US (~8% of the total votes) chose Tech 53% of the time.

Conference Affiliations
An interesting trend was a delineation along conference lines. States affiliated with certain conferences aligned with certain teams. Obviously, ACC states chose Tech while exclusively SEC states took Georgia. What's interesting is the Clemson contigent in SC and the Tech contigent in Georgia overwhelmed the Cocks and Dogs, respectively. And I think Florida just went overwhelmingly with Tech because of FSU/Miami and Florida's hatred of all things dog-related. In states only affiliated with the SEC, Georgia took 55% of the votes.

Here's a breakdown of votes based on state-conference affiliations:
1. ACC - 2599 of 4591 votes for Tech (57%)1
2. Big East - 576 of 1113 votes for Tech (52%)2
2. SEC - 2789 of 5342 votes for Tech (52%)3
4. Big 10 - 1257 of 2471 votes for Tech (51%)4
4. Big 12 - 1149 of 2257 votes for Tech (51%)5
6. Pac 10 - 602 of 1247 votes for Tech (48%)
7. No BCS or I-A Teams - 244 of 516 votes for Tech (47%)

Interesting Trends
There were some noticeable trends such as states who had played Tech recently siding with Georgia and vice versa. So I went back five years pulling only OOC games and matched the teams up with their home states to show that Tech only had a 47% approval rating in states that had played Tech since 2004 (OOC opponents). Georgia, likewise, only had a 49% approval rating in states it had played OOC since 2004. This, to me, indicated Tech and Georgia left a sour taste in the mouth of OOC opponents or our OOC opponents perceive us to be weaker after playing us.

And I'm sure there're some random Georgia fans out there thinking, "This is BS, I know some conferences respect my good ol' 2009 DOGS!!! WOOF WOOF!" Well, I found one: the Western Athletic Conference. The WAC States are the only other grouping of I-A affiliated states on par with the Pac 10 at a 48% approval rating for Tech. Pretty interesting that the only conferences that approve of the Bulldog's upcoming season are 2,500 miles away or their own SEC homer friends in Goober, Alabama.

Top Fives
So with a minimum of 100 votes, here are the states that felt Tech would do better than Georgia followed by states that felt Tech would do worse. I think Nebraska loves the Triple Option and our ACC brethren took care of their own states. Georgia pulled Idaho because of their shillacking of Hawai'i/Boise State recently. Kansas I do not understand. It's an island of haters in a sea of Big 12-GT friendship.

1. Nebraska (61%)
2. North Carolina (59%)
2. South Carolina (59%)
2. Massachusetts (59%)
5. Virginia (58%)
---
1. Mississippi (35%)
2. Idaho (37%)
3. Kansas (42%)
4. Arkansas (43%)
5. Minnesota (44%)

Notes: 1) Includes votes from Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
2) Includes votes from Pennsylvania.
3) Includes votes from Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.
4) Includes votes from Iowa and Pennsylvania.
5) Includes votes from Iowa.

Thoughts are welcome.

To Hell with Georgia: Turner Field Edition

Tech and uga meet tonight at the House that Smoltz built. The rivalry renews for its 345th edition and 7th game at Turner Field. Tech actually has an abysmal record at Turner Field going 1-5 with a current 3 game losing streak at the Ted. This year's different though. This year Tech walks in with some hot hands (4.64 team ERA) and high flyin' bats (.325 team average). Opponents are hitting .261 against us and have an awful 8.43 ERA against Tech.

Quick preview of uga stats:

Team Batting Avg. - .301
Opp. Batting Avg. - .271

Team ERA - 4.64
Opp. ERA - 7.50

Georgie is 2 games back of Florida in the SEC-East division race and is sportin' a 34-17 overall record. The dogs are led offensively by Rich Poythress who is pushin' a .392 batting average with 21 homers. Georgie has 94 homers in 51 games compared to Tech's 96 homers in 46 games. Tech already defeated Georgie at home once this season and the first game of the series (at Tech) was rained out.

Tech and uga have played at Turner Field every year since 2003. The 2003 game was the first college game ever played at Turner Field and the attendance at the Ted typically averages 23,000-25,000, which is very impressive for college baseball. Predicted attendance: 24,500.

Cooincidentally, the first time Jeff Francoeur ever played at Turner Field was the same day as that 2003 Tech-uga game at Turner Field. Francoeur was playing for Parkview High School.

Edit: I didn't realize Zach von Tersch was pitching. Georgie is done-fer. Anyone know why Zach didn't pitch against FSU? FYI, Georgie is pitchin' a freshman against us. Are you afraid of this guy???

Roddy Jones Replay

The 54 yard TD by Roddy Jones against ugag is an excellent clip of our triple option at work. You see the fake to Dwyer (21), the option by Nesbitt (9), and the downfield blocking. The above diagram shows the GA defenders that could make a play (red) and those completely removed from the play (black).

GA is lined up in a 4-4 with press coverage on the wideouts. The right cornerback (2) is blocked and removed eventually by Bebe. This is actually a poor block attempt but who's judging? Cox (36) destroys the free safety (4), which basically creates the touchdown after the right outside linebacker (3) takes a terrible angle on Roddy (20). The free safety recovers pretty well and tries to knock Roddy out of bounds but isn't strong enough and the TD is scored.

I really enjoy watching these dog clips.

Wednesday News Flash: Suck it Mutts!

  • You can't beat us this year. Football, baseball, basketball. The sweet smell of victory! Softball is the only "major" sport you can talk about right now.

  • Rumors are spreading that the AJC/Cox Media is cutting more writers/ columnists from their staff. That includes the likes of Terrence Moore, and the GT beat writers Larry Harstein and Ken Suguira. There is absolutely no love lost between me and Terrence Moore. He can fall off a cliff for all I care. As for Larry and Ken, they were decent enough and brought up discussion points, so good luck to them both.

  • The AJC cutting writers is all the more reason to follow Coley Harvey at the Macon Telegraph. He goes above and beyond and is making the extra effort to draw readers and followers into his section of the newspaper. Follow Coley Harvey.

  • A bash against Paul Hewitt?? It's not the first time people question him about player development. This is a report on Alade Aminu's performance at the Portsmouth Invitational. Specifically:
Comparing the way Aminu played at Portsmouth with what we can now see from his film at Georgia Tech reveals a pretty stark contrast—it doesn’t seem like he was utilized very well at all in college from what we can tell. Aminu was an absolute devastating force as a pick and roll finisher for his Norfolk Naval Shipyard team—thanks to his tremendous combination of size, length, terrific hands and excellent mobility. At Georgia Tech he was barely used in this fashion at all—just 4.3% of his offensive possessions came on the pick and roll. They looked incredibly disorganized in the film we took in, with no point guard, no system, and very little ball-movement. It appeared that Aminu often was asked to play very far from the basket, and pretty much all of his shots were opportunities that he was forced to create on his own.

Nature gives way to Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate

First, TO HELL WITH GEORGIA! 7:00PM tonight in Athens.

Second, let's look ahead to the Coastal Division's remaining ACC schedule to predict a division champ. The winner (because of rainouts) is chosen based on win %. Ties are half a win. The Coastal division teams are ranked below based on remaining schedule strength:

1. UNC 10-7 (0.588) : remaining ACC schedule is 31-39 (0.443)
2. UVA 9-6-1 (0.594) : remaining ACC schedule is 32-37 (0.464)
3. Miami 11-7 (0.611) : remaining ACC schedule is 30-34 (0.469)
4. Tech 10-5-1 (0.656) : remaining ACC schedule is 33-33 (0.500)
5. Duke 9-9 (0.500) : remaining ACC schedule is 32-32-2 (0.500)
6. VT 7-10 (0.412) : remaining ACC schedule is 40-28-1 (0.587)

So VT looks sunk but UNC, UVA, and Miami can brag a little about having Wake/MD on their schedules to end the season. Sweeps will be huge right now.

Piss on the Mutts

To Hell With Georgia: Episode I

#3 Tech hosts #1 uga Wednesday afternoon. The dogs deserve a punch in the throat after eliminating Tech last year in the Athens regional. Tech has won the last four at the Rusty C against the dogs and looks to extend that streak in front of an incredibly excited regional television audience. Good luck to the Jackets and TO HELL WITH GEORGIA! Predictions welcome.

This ain't no rivalry Holmes!

uga fans love to jibber-jabber about the "decrease in attention" given to Tech as of late. Well, I present to you above exhibit A: Rennie Curran, uga linebacker, lifting above a mat with one date inscribed. November 28, 2009.

I guess they're aware of the Yellow Jackets now after getting punched in the throat at home. Oh boy, can't wait.

Why Felton was fired and Hewitt will not be

Why Felton was fired:

1. Felton was fired because of an overall losing record at Georgia.
2. His team has done jack in the tournament.
3. His contract was only worth ~1.6 million - chump change to Georgia's AA.
4. Felton lost Favors, his last chance, to Tech.
5. Georgia is delusional.

Why Hewitt will not be fired:

1. 2004 Final Four still demands respect.
2. His team has had unexpected attrition particularly at guard.
3. He still has about ~2.5 million dollars to make from Tech.
4. Derrick Favors.
5. Tech is generally more patient and reserved when hiring/firing coaches.

I'm hoping for a turnaround still. Call me optimistic. Any thoughts on the Felton firing besides slight joy in Georgia's program falling into greater disarray?

1992 GT/ UGAg Game

This particular game goes down in a Yellow Jacket fan's lore not because of the game but because of the way the band behaved. For those of you who don't know, the '92 game was held in Athens and when the band went on the field to perform during halftime, they promptly covered up the UGA logo. The UGA fans, so caught up in what was going on, sat in their seats and booed the GT band during the entire performance. Once the GT show was over, the mutts get up and leave for their troughs to piss in, completely emptying the seats for the UGAg band. So here's a little offseason To Hell with Georgia for ya.

To Hell With Georgia - 67 to 62

Source - Pouya Dianat - ajc.com
Bird's Perspective:

I watched from SC on FSN. I found the first half to be disorganized and sloppy. I thought the second half was inspired and aggressive, which is why we won. We pressed the uga bastards when their lack of depth hurt 'em and it showed. Major props to Zach Peacock. Easily the player of the game. Play of the game was Lewis Clinch recovering the loose ball at the end. And I wish I could've listened to Wes Durham calling the game instead I got two FSN turds that kept talking about ugag's run to the SEC title in our house last year...BAH.

Winfield's Perspective:

I watched the game from the top of the AMC. The first half of the game sucked total balls. The total definition of a cripple fight. The 2nd half was our turning point (hopefully for the season as well). We came together as a team and worked the mutts into the pitifulness that they are. Bird is right when he says Peacock gets player of the game, but I will also send a shout out to Gani Lawal. Brought the pain in the 2nd half! And the best thing? Derrick Favors was in the building and was seen slapping hands with GT players at the end! To Hell with Georgia!

What are your thoughts on last night's game?

ACC coach departs and Tostitos Bowl

Well, crap. I can't believe BC got rid of ol' Jags. He was a damn good coach. I'm happy that he's gone for [any future possible matchups] but I'm sad for the ACC's coaching ranks. Looking at his background though indicated he was looking NFL all along. I can't remember the sportscaster that said this verbage but basically every coach wants to prove that their system works at the highest level. Coaching's a competition like the game of football itself. Coaches want to prove to everyone that they're the best. Transitioning from college to pros for coaches is a method of ego stroking but also self affirmation.

I watched a little of the Tostitos Bowl last night with a group of Ohionions. Enjoyable? No. ugag fans of the North. Period. How can people that went to Bowling Green, Toledo, Cincinatti, etc. all root for some random bean mascot more than their alma maters? I always ask, "Who do you root for when Ohio State is kicking the crap out of your college?" Answered with, "GO BUCKEYES!" Weird. I'm a different kind of fan than a lot of the "born and raised." My family had no Tech affiliation. I chose Tech because I liked the school's rep and then fell in love with the sports. So goes life. Everyone's different. Gotta appreciate the different types of fans. If all our fans were the same, we'd be ugag fans.

Thoughts on the Fiesta Bowl and Boston College are welcome. Or thoughts on the your favorite Tostitos/Doritos/corn chips are welcome, too. Got a favorite bird of prey?

The Monday After...Links!

Oh yes.

It has been stenciled in the mirror since the day Paul Johnson came on campus: “Beat Georgia”. After this weekend, we can all look back and proudly say “Accomplished.”

Remember earlier in the season? We were dubbed a team with a “high school offense” and that we would not succeed in the BCS conferences with our offense. Well you who criticize before you know what you’re talking about….go suck it! Two days after our own drought has ended, I’m not sure if the feeling has completely set in yet. We beat the preseason national champions. We beat St. Richt and we beat the Bulldogs while Stafford arguably had one of his best games of his career. Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech are here to stay and our presence has been felt. Here’s what’s floating around the internet after the jubilee Saturday afternoon.

The Georgia Sports Blog is depressed. hahahaha!

The AJC writers have faced reality: We are better than the Bulldogs.

Jeff Shulz says we’re a rivalry again.

Furman Bisher writes, in his old prose-style way, how that game means more than a trip to Tampa. And for this year, yes, I have to agree.

Sports Illustrated, yes the publication that predicted us to win 3 games, gives Paul Johnson praise

The Chattanooga Times-Free Press jumps on the bandwagon as well. The love is overflowing for Paul Johnson

Paul Newberry, a national AP writer, discusses the expectation levels set for GT and UGAg and how both teams met (or failed to meet) those levels.

The Macon Telegraph’s Coley Harvey writes his own article about our victory in the Cesspool.

I love these quotes:
Rennie Curran, UGA linebacker, “We were well-coached”
Josh Nesbitt: “They had no idea what we were going to do.”

It’s great to be a Yellow Jacket!

Tech weekend mini-recap

Friday - Tech narrowly escapes another midmajor upset. Jacksonville surged late but still fell to Tech. Our 3-point shooting has got to pickup. We keep trading 2's for 3's every game. Next game is Penn State in the ACC-Big 10 Challenge on Wednesday.

Saturday - Tech outlasts Georgie in a Clean, Old-fashioned Shootout. The second highest point total in the series with 87 points scored (1999 was the most with 99 total points). Both teams accumulated 916 total yards of offense. I think the coolest stat of the game is TOP: ugag had the ball for 16:04 in the first half but only had it for 10:32 in the second.

To Hell with Georgie! Too bad UVA couldn't have helped us out but there's only so much Vic Hall can do (121 rushing yards with 2 TD's, 3 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble).

Monday - Dabo Swinney is named head coach of Clemson. Not really a GT subject, other than I'm glad they didn't hire a good coach. Luckily for GT, we'll be dealing with another mediocre Clemson coach for at least 2-3 more years.

Georgie Irrational Game Preview

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Secondly, there will be no Georgie Guest Blogger because I say so. Thirdly, Go Virginia! Beat Virginia Tech!

What: Georgia Tech @ Georgia
Where: The Cesspool
When: High Noon
TV: National telecast on CBS
Will The Legacy Crew be there? Kind of. I had to do the family thing and go to Cleveland, Ohio. But I'll be there in spirit trying to keep from cursing at the tv in front of my family.

Tech is really playing with house money right now. No one expected us to be remotely close to where we are. The bowl game streak remains intact, now we must keep Bobby Dodd's win streak again the in-state rival alive. No one has beaten the rival 8 years in a row except for that man. What would be the Mutts best win of the season up to this point? LSU? South Carolina? Geez, that sucks.
On to the what-if's!

Georgie wins if: They play like the expectations originally set. Seriously, this team is one of the biggest disappointments of the entire college football season. They gave up 90 points to Alabama and Florida combined. Some serious national title contender. Their defense has to remain disciplined and follow their assigned men, NOT the ball. Can they step it up? They should have taken notice of what happens when you follow the ball (see FSU and Miami who both had top 10 defenses against "stereotypical offenses"). Matt Stafford must be what the media hypes to be typical Matt Stafford. They also cannot play like they need against absymal Auburn. (duh)

Tech wins if: We play lights out. We absolutely need a healthy Josh Nesbitt and a competent offensive line. How will our defensive line match up to their offensive line? Our secondary will be tested and they must show their strength because the mutts have shown they can score when their backs are against the wall. Georgia's defense is weak and they give up points (see 3 straight weeks of giving up 38 points)All the pressure is on Georgie. We have the capabilities and the potential to come out there and take complete control of the game. How many plays does CPJ have up his sleeve specifically for this one game?

Irrational Score Prediction: Bobby Dodd's streak stays alive! Georgia Tech 24 Mutts 17

Sidenotes: I leave you with a song that I hope many of you know very well:

(To the tune of Georgie's "Fight Song" AKA The Battle Hymn of the Republic)
Don't send my son to MIT,
the dying mother said.
Don't send my son to Emory,
I'd rather see him dead.
But send my son to Georgia Tech,
'tis better than Cornell!
But as for the University [sic] of Georgia,
I'd rather see him in Hell!
To Hell! To Hell! To Hell with Georgia!
To Hell! To Hell! To Hell with Georgia!
To Hell! To Hell! To Hell with Georgia!
THE CESSPOOL OF THE SOUTH!

Bobby Dodd and the University [sic] of Georgia

Bobby Dodd did not like ugag. In a small, personal way he insulted the school and the team by always calling them "Georgie". This is what he told his players before a game, and this is what ever Georgia Tech fan needs to remember every day of the year.

"Now let me tell you what is going to happen today. That Georgie team is going to come running out of the tunnel screaming and crying. They will be foaming at the mouth and smashing one another upside the head just to get warmed up. A couple of them will throw up on the sidelines for good measure. We will not do any of that. I do not want to see tears in your eyes. While they are wasting energy we will conserve ours. We will direct our energy into constructive action. I have told you they are bigger, faster, and tougher than you. All that is true, but we do have one advantage. WE ARE SMARTER THAN THEY ARE."

To Hell with Georgia! Piss on the Mutts!

10 Reasons the Institute hates the University [sic]

These are ten chronological reasons why the Institute and the University [sic] do not like eachother and they are pretty legitimate reasons for Tech fans to generally distrust, dislike, or plain out hate ugag:

10. The founding of Tech in the 1880's was originally planned as the mechanical engineering school of uga. Uga politicians/faculty wanted the School of Technology in Athens but luckily the governor's office wanted an independent non-agricultural school that would not be influenced by the aggies. Big time contreversy led to Tech's opening being postponed. Thank God the first Tech Men won the debate.

9. November 4, 1893. We are invited to play ugag in football. Our first ever victory in football. Our first ever dealings with ugag's athletic department and we are pelted by ugag fans with rocks and garbage. Then, chased by a mob back to our awaiting train. Our star player Leonard Wood finished the game with several stitches above his eye that were the result of hurled debris.

8. 1908. Ugag alumni incite Southern Conference investigation into recruiting practices of John Heisman. Heisman was the definition of moral character and gave all of his records, books, and such to the investigators who found no fault in his program.

7. 1919. The boys come home from World War I. Tech acted as a military officer training facility and had a full compliment of men on campus during the war. Ugag's student body was a mass of grunts that quit school and joined up. So in celebration of ugag's students return, they threw a big parade. In the parade, ugag displayed a donkey painted yellow that said "Tech in Atlanta" and a tank that had "UGA in Argonne" painted on the side. I'm sorry ugag fans but that's pretty f-ing low. Tech men were leading your hillbilly asses into battle and this is the thanks they get.

6. 1943 and 1944. Tech destroys ugag in football both years. Ugag does not recognize the games to this day. Sore losers. Once again, we were a military school at the time. The players that played in those games were legitimately enrolled at Tech. They were transfers from schools all over the country but our best players were still Tech Men (e.g. John Steber, Phil Tinsley, and Eddie Prokop).

5. 1978. Tech attempts re-entry into the SEC after scholarship limits are imposed and a true recruiting ethics doctrine is implemented. At one point, SEC teams would over-recruit their rosters and dump kids in the middle of the Summer if they didn't make the team, leaving them without scholarships. This is one of the main reasons Dodd left the SEC in 1964. In the 1978 vote, the biggest opponent of Tech was...ugag. They rallied their fellow redneck schools and shot down Tech's attempt.

4. December 2, 1978. Dooley orders the hit on Eddie Lee Ivery that knocks Ivery out of the ugag game and out of the Heisman race. Bullshit move by a bullshit coach.

3. 1994. Ugag athletic department cites the Omni's proximity to Tech's campus as the reason ugag can't beat Tech in basketball. They didn't take into account the fact that ugag fans don't give two shits about basketball and weren't coming to the games or that their teams/coaches sucked.

2. November 25, 1994. The most recent of Tech-ugag bench clearing brawls 'cause Ray Goof thought it was cool to leave the starters in with the game in hand. Congrats Ray, your team beat a 1 win Tech team. I wish Ryan Stewart had punched him in the face during the fight.

1. 2000. The ugag band stabs our giant inflatable buzz... That's pretty low. Good thing we made the band pay for it.

Sorry Joe, I forgot to mention I wasn't born for almost all of this list but it still doesn't mean we should forget past transgressions. College athletics is about pageantry, history, and tradition not just what happened this season.

Georgie Sucks...Here's Why

Sums it up.

The University [sic] of Georgia is the scum of the earth. They are trash and they aren’t worth a damn thing to this world.

So here’s a list:
10 Reasons why UGAg sucks so bad

10. They think their degree is worth something. Seriously, move out of the state and see what your “degree” does for you.

9. They think they are an above average football team. C’mon please, you got blown out by Bama and Florida. They are the only 2 good teams you played in your conference. You struggled against Vanderbilt who got beat by Duke. You also got taken to the wire by Auburn who absolutely blows! Put together one complete game and then maybe we’ll talk.

8. Because St. Mark Richt is actually a giant douchebag. Sure, the man goes out on mission trips preaching to the natives of the South American jungle. All the while his players are out getting in fights beating their fellow students/administrators to a pulp. Bowden much?

7. Because that bark is the most retarded thing I’ve ever heard. I already know you’re an uneducated piece of trash. Do you really need to confirm my thoughts?

6. They won’t acknowledge our victories (1943,1944) over them during World War II because they claim all their players were fighting the war. But they’ll claim that MNC during the same time period (1942). Also note that GT's sensational Clint Castleberry was in the war... but instead of pissing and moaning about losing games, we simply venerate our student soldier.

5. Because there’s not a thing special about UGAg. “Between the Hedges?” pssh, the entire SEC has hedges. The damn mutt of a dog was copied off Yale University and the Georgie “G”? Taken from the Green Bay Packers.

4. Matt Stafford doesn't mind spooning... with men.

3. Their short list of 'traditions' - a chant that talks about why they are the worst fans in college football, a parade of players in front of the shallow end of the gene pool, and the greatest college football tradition of all time - spelling. Here's some spelling: D-U-M-B-A-S-S.

2. Because they like to hoot and holler about the current streak, but they forget the Tech still owns the streak record. In fact, Georgia flipped such a shit about finally beating us in 1957 that they put a no-name fullback in their hall of fame for scoring the only touchdown in that 7-0 victory.

1. Their mascot dies.

What's the Good Word? !
